Working Principle of Safety Door Switch

Aug. 21, 2024

ESPE safety door switch is a kind of safety device widely applied on door of mechanical equipment to monitor the open & close of door for ensuring worker safety. The working principle of safety door switch is mainly based on the attraction and releasing of magnet to achieve the locking and releasing of door. The working principle can be detailed to described as below:

Working Principle of Safety Door Switch

First, the electromagnet

Electromagnet is consist of coil, core and lock. Current pass the coil and generate magnetic field, under it, core will be attract by lock, and have strong magnet between lock and door. This kind of locking method no need complict mechancial structure or locking tongue, suitable for door requiring fast to open.

Under the lock of door switch, internal current is little which ensure strong holding force but low consumption. Once cutting the current, the magnetic field just disappear, and lock core is released, and door could be open.

Second, safety door switch.

Safety door switch is a kind of device to moniter door state. Which is consist of door magnet. When door is closed, the magnetic field between switch & controller is disconnected, and controller will get close state by monitoring the signal. On opposite, when door open, the magnetic field is re-connected, and controller get open state by getting the signal.

Third, Overall work flow.

When locking system confirm right entering operate, the system will send open signal. Safety door switch get released and open door. At the mean time, safety door switch will get the state change of door, and send signal to system. Then whole system can get the state of door and ensure safety 100%.

Electromagnetic lock just use the magnet to ahcive the lock & release for ensure machinery saftey well.
